Discussion
These cards have the same manufacturer ID, the same OEM ID, the same product name, and the same product revision as the PNY Premier-X 128GB. So they should perform exactly the same, right?
As it turns out, no. Well…almost.
Sequential write, random read, and random write speeds were pretty in line with the PNY Premier-X 128GB, but sequential read speeds were considerably worse. And the results were pretty consistent across all three samples — so it’s not like the results were a fluke.
All three samples are currently going through endurance testing:
- Sample #1 has survived 2,366 read/write cycles so far and has not yet experienced any errors.
- Sample #2 has not yet reached the 2,000 read/write cycle mark. It’s too early to make any estimates on when it will get there.
- Sample #3 has not yet reached the 2,000 read/write cycle mark. It’s too early to make any estimates on when it will get there.
